Recruitment rise drives full year growth for law firm Wright Hassall

A RISE in recruitment has paid dividends for Warwickshire law firm Wright Hassall with a major increase in full year revenue and profits.

The Leamington Spa-based firm said that for the year to December 31, 2015 revenue rose to £17.6m, up from £15.9m a year earlier. Pre-tax profit also rose to £3.6 from £3.2m in 2014.

Wright Hassall, based on Olympus Avenue, employs 270 staff, including 145 lawyers and 43 partners.

Sarah Perry, managing partner at Wright Hassall, said: “The firm has achieved significant year-on-year growth over the last six years and we’re pleased our latest results show we have continued this strong performance.

“In 2015, we invested in the recruitment of legal experts across the practice to support our clients’ requirements, including 12 solicitors in real estate and private client and the appointment of a non-legal Operations Director.

“We have continued this recruitment drive into 2016 with the appointment of experts in housing, immigration, employment, wealth management, property litigation and agriculture, and also made further investments in our operational effectiveness, including the introduction of enhanced workflow technology.”

She said trading in 2016 had been strong across all of the firm’s teams, although the uncertainty of the EU Referendum was having an impact on some clients’ appetite to move forward on corporate and real estate investments.

“During 2016 we will continue to target continued growth in a number of priority sectors including advanced manufacturing and engineering (AME), agricultural and housing, health and social care, gaming and development,” she added.

“We have established strong foundations and we are extremely positive for the future and on track to deliver our growth objectives.”
