Legal Appointments: Bell Cornwall; Wright Hassall; George Green

A FORMER chairman of the Birmingham Law Society has been appointed by a Birmingham recruitment firm to bolster its senior management structure.

Chris Owen, who is also the former chief executive of St Philips Chambers, has been appointed senior legal recruitment partner at city centre-based Bell Cornwall Recruitment.

Working from offices in Birmingham and London, he will lead Bell Cornwall Recruitment’s programme targeting senior legal people for law firms and barristers’ chambers in Birmingham and the West Midlands.  

This will include search and recruitment services for solicitors at all levels from associates to senior partners, to managing partners and senior staff.

In addition, Mr Owen, who has been involved in legal recruitment for 15 years, will take on assignments for barristers’ chambers seeking new members, barristers seeking to move chambers, and senior staff in chambers, particularly at chief executive and senior clerk levels.

Matthew Davies (pictured right) has amassed more than 20 years of experience in the field of business immigration and succeeds Marian Dixon, who is retiring as a partner following eight years at the Leamington-based firm.

Mr Davies, who is originally from Coventry, has been recruited after more than two decades working in London. He joins from Fox Williams in the City where for the last nine years he has been head of business immigration.

The Oxford University graduate is recognised as a leading expert in business immigration by Chambers and Partners Guide to the Legal Profession, Legal 500 and The International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers.
