5 things to do in the West Midlands this weekend

Grease is the word…
Get ready to hand-jive the night away and get practicing all your favourite songs because Grease is back in Brum. The New Alexandra Theatre’s annual Stage Experience is back and the theatre promise that this year is better than ever before. The cast of Grease, who will sing the likes of Summer Nights, Greased Lightnin’ and You’re the One That I Want, will featuring the West Midlands’ most talented young performers. Find out more here.

Black Country VoyagesBlack Country Voyage
Head to Tipton this weekend to see the incredibly interesting and family-friendly Black Country Voyages: The Auspicious Journey. Black Country Voyages, an art programme for local people, will be bringing their clay workshops to a canal boat which has been transformed into a story of mass displacement in Pakistan in the 1960s that led to the establishment of new communities in The Black Country. The canal system was, after all, the bloodline of industry for The Black Country and it was here many migrants came to find work. Find out more here.

Dressed for DramaDress for drama
Play dress up this weekend at Worcester Cathedral at their Dressed for Drama exhibition! The event will feature over 30 period costumes from British television and film, including the likes of Downton Abbey, Mr Selfridge, Poldark, Wolf Hall, and many more. Head along and marvel at the range of outfits worn by the likes of Eddie Redmayne, Maggie Smith, Cary Mulligan and Mark Rylance. Find out more here.

V FestivalGet down to V
Some of the best acts from around the world are right on your doorstep this weekend. V Festival returns to Weston Park in Staffordshire on Saturday and Sunday and if you’re not up for the whole camping experience, you can purchase day tickets for a fun time with your friends and family. The line-up has everything from Faithless, Travis and Kaiser Chiefs to Lightening Seeds, Corinne Bailey Rae and even Rick Astley. Ironbridge MuseumHead back to the Victorian era
Head to The Ironbridge Gorge Museums this weekend for a day full of workshops, storytelling and games with the kids. There will be a Teddy Bear’s Picnic and the kids will love the story themed trail around the museum, in fact, children are being encouraged to come dressed as their favourite characters for a competition!
