Floorcoverings group opts for continuity as chief executive steps down

THE head of Coleshill-based floorcoverings group Headlam, is to step down from the business, the company has announced.
Tony Brewer has spent more than 25 years with the business – the last 16 as chief executive.
In an announcement to the London Stock Exchange, the company said it wanted to place on record its thanks to him for his role in helping to build up the group.
The company said Mr Brewer’s successor would be Steve Wilson, who has been the group’s Finance Director since 1991. The succession is with immediate effect.
“Steve brings to the role not only an in depth knowledge of the group’s operations and financials but also a strong skillset for the future development of the business,” it said.
The board has begun a recruitment process to appoint a new Chief Financial Officer. Until this appointment is made, Mr Wilson will continue to oversee the role.
Tony Judge, who has worked at the group for more than 24 years, has been appointed to the operational role of Chief Operating Officer.
Mr Judge, who has 35 years’ experience of the floorcoverings industry, has held a number of senior operational roles at the group, most recently as Commercial Director of the Coleshill and Tamworth businesses.
Headlam stated in its interim results last month that its markets appeared to be robust and, subject to the key trading period in the run-up to Christmas, the board remained confident of achieving full year expectations.
It said nothing had happened since to change the forecast.
