Residential property market comes under Future spotlight

YOUNG professionals in Birmingham are holding a series of events looking at the future of the city’s residential market.
BPS Birmingham Future has curated #ResiWeek, which starts today, to put the spotlight on Birmingham’s residential market and examine the issues surrounding the delivery of new homes from land availability to affordability and the build-to-rent market.
Steve Townsend, chairman of BPS Birmingham’s Future Infrastructure Committee, said: “Birmingham has the largest regional residential property market in England and while the capital’s market becomes increasingly overheated, many investors are turning elsewhere and looking for higher returns and less competition.
“Pair this with the commitment from the public and private sectors to deliver on projects that will transform Greater Birmingham into a well-connected, vibrant and thriving place to live, work and do business and you have exceptional demand for residential property.
“Yet, there are still many obstacles to overcome and we hope that #ResiWeek will bring the city’s residential experts together to discuss the solutions.”
As part of #ResiWeek, a discussion on the future of residential development in Birmingham will be chaired by TheBusinessDesk.com editor Alex Turner. The event, which starts from 6pm on Thursday at Bilfinger GVA, brings together property experts from Birmingham City Council, Bilfinger GVA, FleetMilne Property and Glenn Howells Architects.
