Horse of the Year Show
Birmingham’s NEC and Genting Arena is being transformed this week with 50 acres of thrills, spills and entertainment at the Horse of the Year Show. There will be a wide range of displays to marvel at as well as fun for the whole family to enjoy. 946: The Amazing Story Of Adolphus Tips
Based on the book of the same name by Michael Morpurgo, 946: The Amazing Story Of Adolphus Tips is set to come to life this weekend at Birmingham’s REP theatre. The story follows the life of a 12-year-old whose home has been occupied by American soldiers. Based in 1944 in Devon, this play uses music and puppetry to show a tale of war, prejudice and love. My Scientology Movie
Fans of Louis Theroux are in for a treat this weekend, with his first feature documentary delving into the world of Scientology, the world’s most mysterious religion. The film is set to be incredibly revealing of the Scientology church as well as having a good dose of humour with some incredibly tricky situations that Louis finds himself in. The Electric Cinema in Birmingham will be showing the film from today (Friday) to Thursday (October 13), so book tickets in advance. Find out more here.
Fun run in Shugborough
The Katharine House Hospice returns to Shugborough with its 10k and 5k runs around the Shugborough Grounds and Gardens this Sunday. The route will be on roads, paths, grass and dirt track as well as huge hill, so get ready to feel the burn! Carmen – Russian State Ballet
Featuring an impressive cast and accompanied by a large live Orchestra with over 30 musicians, The Russian State Opera are returning to Stafford Gatehouse Theatre this Sunday night with a production of popular opera Carmen. The story follows the downfall of Don José, a naïve soldier who is seduced by Carmen who is a free-spirited femme fatale. Find out more here.
