Care home provider expands after new funding deal

A STOKE-ON-TRENT supported living provider has expanded its portfolio after securing a new funding deal.

Independent Support Ltd, based at Cobridge, has used the £775,000 finance package from Barclays to refinance and purchase supported living accommodation at Leek and Longton.

The new properties will add to the firm’s existing accommodation at The Willows, Tunstall and increases the number of people it can accommodate to 50.

Ray Wainwright, director, said: “Independent Support provides support to individuals with learning disabilities and complex needs living in their own home, to assist and improve the quality of their lives whilst maintaining their independence and personal choice.

“Demand for quality care is set to increase across the region and placements are already limited, so expansion is vital to our success.

“I have real concerns over the UK’s care strategy. Traditional local authority care homes are increasingly coming under pressure to meet increased regulation and care standards, which is why the private sector must embrace these challenges, investing and improving the standards of care.”

Steve Sargeant, Barclays Relationship Director, said the support would enhance a useful service and help create local jobs.

“The investment marks a significant step in the business development cycle and we wish them every success for the future,” he said.
