Matron leads MBO of nursing home

THE matron of a Staffordshire nursing home has completed a management buyout, after leading on a £1.7m investment.
Susan Harrison has purchased the Hawksyard Priory Nursing Home, a former Dominican Priory in Armitage, Staffordshire.
The deal, supported by Barclays, will ensure a smooth transition for workers and residents at the home. Hawksyard Priory has 140 employees and has 106 beds to support its residential care.
Ms Harrison said: “Demand for quality services with dedicated care is set to increase across the region and placements are already limited at the moment so our investment is vital to help meet Staffordshire’s projected care needs.
“The investment will continue to enhance the reputation of our service. We have already established strong occupancy rates, which is an indicator that we are doing the right things for our residents and their families.”
Patrick Convey, Barclays’ relationship director, added: “When Susan decided to seize the opportunity and acquire full ownership of the home we were ready and able to create a funding package to make it happen.”
