Stock market firm’s FD stands down after 29 years

Portmeirion’s long-serving group finance director, Brett Phillips, is to stand down after 29 years in post.
He has held the role since the manufacturer floated in 1988, and the Staffordshire business has grown to be valued at more than £100m.
Portmeirion makes and distributes high quality homewares under the Portmeirion, Spode, Royal Worcester and Wax Lyrical brands.
Phillips, who turns 60 this year, said: “It has been a privilege to be associated with the success of Portmeirion for nearly thirty years. I will continue to work with the company to ensure a smooth handover.”
He will continue as the non-executive chairman of Portmeirion’s associate company, Furlong Mills.
Dick Steele, Portmeirion’s non-executive chairman, said: “Brett has been a key member of our team for a long time and his contribution has been huge.”
The company has promoted Moira MacDonald to company secretary after 10 years as deputy and also promoted Mick Knapper to the board as operations director.
