Browne Jacobson partner appointed to chair charity body
THE Association of NHS Charities has appointed a senior partner at Midlands law firm Browne Jacobson as it new chairman. William Colacicchi, left, is considered a specialist in trusts and charities and heads up the firm’s private client and charities group. He was recently rated by independent legal directory Chambers 2010 as a leader in his field. Mr Colacicchi is also current chairman of Nottingham University Hospitals Charity and prior to that was a special trustee of the Queen’s Medical Centre Charity. He said: “The Association has achieved much in a relatively short period of time, successfully lobbying government on a number of important issues and developments affecting all NHS charities, and being recognised as the voice of the NHS Charity sector. It’s a tremendous honour to be elected chair at such a critical time for our members.”
See 20/20 appoints new UK sales manager
BLACK Country software firm See20/20 has appointed Michael Silverberg as its new UK sales manager. Mr Silverberg, 25, left his family firm Silverberg Opticians to join Britierly Hill-based See20/20, which has developed a practice management system for opticians. Mr Silverberg, left, was instrumental in getting the system installed at the family practice. In his new role he will be responsible for supporting the launch of See20/20’s latest dispensing and ordering module throughout the UK. The system enables patient records, stock, appointments, dispensing and payments all to be controlled remotely. It can also be used to manage multiple branches at the same time. More than 300 opticians around the UK already use the See20/20 system.
Aston Business School strengthens its team
THE Operations and Information Management Group at Aston Business School in Birmingham has strengthened its team with the appointment of Professor Tim Baines, a specialist in the realisation of competitive operations. He joins Aston from Cranfield University where he led the product-service systems theme of the Innovative Manufacturing Research Centre. He also headed the Manufacturing Systems Centre and was a co-creator and technical director of the Boeing Centre. He said: “I am looking forward to moving to Aston. I have a strong association with the region and its history, and I’m keen to make a contribution and impact on industry.” His experience covers a wide range of disciplines including manufacturing operations strategy, industrial engineering and technology management.
