UK manufacturer, Lime Green, sees best ever trading year

Lime Green – British, market-leading manufacturer of lime mortars, renders and plasters – grew its business by over 35% in the year following the launch of its new, high-tech manufacturing plant in Much Wenlock, Shropshire.

The new manufacturing plant is home to 23 storage silos holding a combined load of over 600 tonnes of base materials.  These silos have a manufacturing output capacity of 100 metric tonnes a day. The advanced technical capabilities of the plant mean every order is repeatable to +/- 1g per tonne which is key for colour matching through the years.

“We’ve been operating from the same plant since 2002 but we’ve been continually developing it ever since we moved in,” says Simon Ayres, co-founder and managing director, Lime Green. “The new plant has increased our production capacity five-fold. We are now able to meet higher volumes of orders – both in terms of quantities and frequency – faster and to outstanding quality standards.

“The new plant has also created jobs. We’ve taken on two new apprentices taking our team up to 12 and we’re looking to increase this with the addition of another apprentice very soon.

“There is no other company in the UK which offers the range of products we do – and very few across Europe.”

When lime was only available from craftsmen by the bucket, Simon was employed as a builder. He became aware of the material and loved it so much he went on to establish the Lime Green brand.

“Our core vision is to ensure every build is a healthy build. We want customers to use our products without fear, completing a project they, the architect and the client can be proud of.”
