Social enteprise shining example for Rotherham

A SOCIAL enterprise is helping Rotherham residents make the most of their unwanted goods while raising £10,000 for good causes.
Kivo eBiz, is an ebay trading company set up by Kiveton Park and Wales Community Development Trust to raise money for community projects and earn money for the sellers.
The service includes taking photos of unwanted items as well as advertising and monitoring their progress on ebay.
Postage and packing is also organised once its sold.
Stephanie Hryschko, director of Kiverton Park and Wales Community Development Trust who set up Kivo eBiz, said: “The owner receives 80% of the selling price and 20% goes to the trust. All monies raised by the trust are used to benefit worthwhile projects in our community.”
The project has just had its first full year as a limited company and has made £10,000 profit, which will go back into the trust for use in the community.
Kivo eBiz has also gained recognition across the UK and Ms Hryschko is now in the process of visiting other areas of the country to talk them through setting up similar schemes in their area.
Alan Murphy from Rotherham Enterprise – a new project set up to help Rotherham people set up or run their own business, said Kvo eBiz was great example of what people can do to help their own community.
“We are looking for people with similar ideas and passion for social enterprise who need guidance and advice to get their project up and running,” he said.
“Rotherham Enterprise, has been set up by partners in the borough to give a helping hand. We want to develop and foster an enterprising culture across our local communities by promoting self-employment and enterprising opportunities for individuals and businesses.”
Rotherham Enterprise is part funded by European Regional Development Fund and employs teams of business coaches and business support officers to work closely with communities and with individuals who want to start or already run their own business.
Help is also available for existing businesses who may be experiencing difficulties whether they be financial, legislation, bureaucracy, marketing or simply needing somebody to talk to.
