Latest Appointments: Board boosted at Mailway, Senior appointment at Halliwells and more

BRADFORD-based Mailway Packaging Solutions, has appointed a new non-executive chairman to its board.

Dr David Reeves has been president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment (Playstation) for Europe, the Middle East and Africa since 2003 and brings with him experience in the packaged goods industry.

Dr Reeves will specialise in the planning and implementation of strategic solutions aimed at long term corporate growth.

Dr Reeves said; “I was very impressed by Mailway and what the company has achieved in terms of growth, innovation and operation enhancement since 2005. The management team is extremely driven and focused on the next stage of their development plan, and I really feel that my experience will help them to realise these aims.”

“What’s more, the company’s location in Bradford allows me to fulfil a career long wish – to work in the city where I studied back in 1976.”

THE Sheffield office of law firm, Halliwells , has appointed a head to lead its new regulatory and environmental department.

Rod Hunt will head up the department which aims to advise businesses and halliwellsindividuals on a broad range of regulatory issues such as health and safety and environmental and food safety.

The department will also offer bespoke training courses for businesses in the local region and seminars.

Mr Hunt will be joined in the department by Nathan Buckley and Katie Singh.

A LAWYER from Yorkshire has been appointed to a prestigious national planning role.

IPCJan Bessell, head of town and country planning at York firm, Dickinson Dees , has been named as a commissioner for the Infrastructure Planning Commission (IPC).

Ms Bessell will act as a decision maker on nationally-significant infrastructure projects and ensure the IPC carries out its functions as set out in the Planning Act of 2008.

She is one of only two planning lawyers from the North of England appointed to the IPC panel.

IPC Chairman, Sir Michael Pitt, said; “Jan brings with her a wealth of planning and development experience and expertise. Her appointment further strengthens the IPC team, ensuring that we are equipped to deliver to the highest standards from day one.”

THE Wensleydale Creamery in Hawes, has appointed a senior national account manager.

Sarah Napier brings with her more than 13 years of sales and marketing experience within the food sector, having held roles at Kraft Foods, Dairy Farmers of Britain and Sarah Lee International.

David Hartley, The Wensleydale Creamery’s managing director, said; “Sarah’s appointment will further enhance the strong mix of business acumen and experience at The Wensleydale Creamery, which is the only Creamery that makes Wensleydale Cheese in Wensleydale.

“Her strong background in sales and marketing, allied with her client relationship credentials, will help the future growth of the business.”
