Further expansion for healthcare firm

FIFTEEN months after its move to new headquarters, international healthcare company Kleijnen Systematic Reviews (KSR) is set to expand again.
KSR was set up in 2005 by Dr Jos Kleijnen, a former professor at the University of York.
The move from rented space in York to Escrick Business Park in 2009 proved a major landmark for the business.
Now the company employs 27 people around the world, 17 of them based at head office.
KSR, which provides training and consultancy in systematic reviews, health technology assessment, guidelines, research methods, basic statistics and meta-analysis for national institutes and the pharmaceutical industry across Europe, is still expanding and plans to purchase another unit at Escrick Business Park in the next 12 months to house its growing team.
“We are continually looking for new highly skilled staff to undertake the work we do. Being able to offer an attractive location and space is an added bonus to the package we offer prospective employees.
“Escrick Business Park is a pleasant environment in which to work. We have the feeling of being in the countryside yet we are conveniently close to transport links to make access easy,” says Dr Kleijnen.
Dr Kleijnen said buying rather than renting offices has proved a wise business decision for the company.
“With interest rates low, it made sense to purchase rather than to lease the offices. Effectively, we will have acquired the building within four years, based on paying equivalent rental values. As a business committed to maintaining its international headquarters in the York area, it was an easy choice,” he said.
“Having ample car parking for our staff is important and Escrick Business Park provides it. We also have a number of staff who like to cycle to work and are working with Harrison to improve access to the York-Selby cycle path which runs close by.”
The business park was developed by York-based S Harrison Developments.
S Harrison’s Phil Hill said: “This, along with fast broadband access and all round good value, is one of several factors which has attracted a host of both office and warehouse based business to the development.”
