36,000 sq ft logistics facility delivered to DHL at East Yorkshire business park

Parcel company DHL has officially launched a new logistics warehouse on Ozone Business Park in Howden.

DHL joins a wide range of occupiers, including TNT, Warburtons, DPD, Timloc, Kersey Freight and Image Data.

Construction of the 36,408 sq ft warehouse and office building was completed by construction company Hobson and Porter Ltd in September and with the fit-out process now finished, the facility is now operational.

The business park was developed by commercial developer the Horncastle Group PLC.

The parcel company took the last available plot in phase one of the development, meaning the first phase is now completely built out.

Ian Hodges, managing director of the Horncastle Group, said: “When we set out to develop Ozone Business Park we knew the location would make it very attractive to national logistics companies because of its close proximity to the M62, the M18 and the M1. The motorway network makes it easy to get anywhere in the UK from Howden.

“We also wanted to make a meaningful contribution to the Goole and Howden employment area and create new jobs for local people, which is something developing the park has certainly achieved.

“DHL’s new facility will help to continue this trend of economic prosperity for the area which we are very proud to have had a hand in. Ozone Business Park is a real success story for East Yorkshire and the Horncastle Group, and we’re delighted to have been able to deliver it.”

Hobson & Porter has worked on three of the developments at Ozone Business Park and was the main contractor on DHL’s new facility.

Mike Beal, construction director at Hobson and Porter, added: “Ozone Business Park is a fantastic development and we’re delighted to have played such a major part in bringing it forward.

“It combines a fantastic location with first class business premises while at the same time providing quality local employment which is a real boost for the area.”

Rich Harris of JLL introduced DHL and negotiated terms on behalf of Horncastle.

Mr Harris said: “The rise of e-commerce and demands of modern consumers is resulting in leading retailers and logistics companies looking for regionalised hubs from which to distribution. This letting to DHL reinforces Ozone as the perfect location for servicing the major urban areas of Humberside, as well as significant parts of North, South and West Yorkshire.”
