2019 Tour de Yorkshire route revealed
The full route for the 2019 Tour de Yorkshire, which which will take place between 2-5 May, has been unveiled at a press conference by race organisers Welcome to Yorkshire and the Amaury Sport Organisation.
The first Tour de Yorkshire was held in 2015 following on from the success the Tour de France Grand Départ, which took place in the region twelve months earlier.
Last year’s event was televised in an unprecedented 190 countries and watched by 12.5 million global TV viewers, which represents a 29% increase on 2017. 40 global broadcasters covered the action, up from 34 in 2017, and there were over 1,270 hours of TV coverage show.
A record 2.6m spectators lined the route over the four days of action between 3-6 May last year. and overall spend was up 54% on 2017 to £98m.
Stage One of next year’s race, totalling 178.5km, begins in Doncaster before heading north to Baggaby Hill, Elloughton and Pocklington, and then finishing at Selby.

Stage Two, which is also Stage One for the Tour de Yorkshire Women’s Race, starts in Barnsley and then heads north through Lindley, Pontefract and Harrogate. The 132km stage will then finish in Bedale.

Stage Three of the race, which also covers 132km, starts in Bridlington before ascending on five categorised climbs at Silpho, Hooks House Farm, Lythe Bank, Grosmont and Ugglebarnby. Cyclists will then head to Harwood Dale, Whitby Abbey and then head to the finish in Scarborough.

The 175km Stage Four race commences at the Piece Hall in Halifax before heading to Goose Eye, Barden Moor, Park Rash, Greenhow Hill, Otley Chevin. Following stops at Kilnsey and Tinshill, the race will then conclude on The Headrow in Leeds.

The full route for the 2019 Tour de Yorkshire takes in 617.5km of roads, two National Parks and 150 towns and villages from all across the county.
