Construction milestone at historic Majestic site

The developer behind the scheme to convert the Majestic building in Leeds into offices that will house the new Channel 4 headquarters is celebrating reaching a construction milestone.

The central concrete core of the Majestic has now been finished. The landmark building, which first opened as a 2,400-seat cinema in 1922, is being transformed to provide 66,000 sq ft of Grade A office space across seven floors in the heart of Leeds.

The office space will be housed behind the original façade and a three-storey atrium will create a new entrance.

Designed by DLA Architecture, the Majestic will also feature terraces on the fourth and fifth floors overlooking City Square, alongside a domed circulatory space, re-creating the old Palm Court.
