House builder begins work on dozens of homes

Taylor Wimpey Yorkshire has begun construction on 89 new homes off Leeds Road, in Wakefield.
The upcoming development, named Newton Grange, is a mile and half north of Wakefield City Centre, just south of Outwood and will include a range of two to four-bedroom properties including eight affordable homes and a wheelchair accessible bungalow.
In December 2020, Wakefield Council’s planning and highways committee approved the proposals for this scheme.
Jenny Purple, land director at Taylor Wimpey Yorkshire, said: “We’re very pleased to begin construction on Newton Grange this month and look forward to seeing the new development take shape.
“We’ll be offering a range of different house types, suitable for people at all stages of the property ladder and we are working closely with our partners to bring high-quality, much-needed new properties to house hunters in Wakefield.
“As homebuilders, now is the start of an exciting time for us and we look forward to speaking to our very first potential residents.”
