Audio interview: Positive start for Yorkshire deal scene in 2008

RICHARD May, corporate partner at DLA Piper in Sheffield, is bullish about Yorkshire's deals scene following a strong start to 2008.

Although Mr May said the number of deals being completed in the first quarter of this year might be linked to the forthcoming, and unpopular, changes to Capital Gains Tax legislation, he said there was a positive atmosphere in the financial sector despite recessionary concerns following turbulence in global markets.

He says the deals sector in Yorkshire is also in confident mood following a number of huge deals in 2007, including the £783m management buyout of Doncaster-based Keepmoat and the £945m acquisition of Firth Rixson.
