THE Yorkshire Linen Co is celebrating 20 years in business by investing £200,000.

The company, which is owned and run by Ross and Kirsteen Leventhal, opened its first store in Halifax in 1993.

Now based on Hornbeam Park, Harrogate, it owns 43 outlets in the UK, Spain and Portugal, employs a workforce in excess of 300 and has a turnover of more than £18m.

Work is set to start on the refurbishment of its Leigh and Scarborough stores, in addition to relocating two Hull stores into one city centre operation.

LAWYERS from DLA Piper’s corporate team in Leeds have advised on the sale of 4Projects to US-based Viewpoint Construction Software.

Headquartered in Sunderland and with more than 60 employees in the UK, 4Projects is a specialist provider of secure online collaboration software for the construction and infrastructure sectors.
 
Peter Wayte, consultant, and John Gallon, partner, at DLA Piper in Leeds, led the transaction with support from Paul Routledge and Rebecca Lightfoot.

Mr Gallon said: “This is a significant transaction for Viewpoint and 4Projects, bringing together two complementary product portfolios whilst representing an opportunity for the combined businesses to transform the way the construction and infrastructure industries use technology.”
 
DLA Piper advised August Equity and the management shareholders of 4Projects Group of Companies. Viewpoint Construction Software was advised by Pinsent Masons LLP and KPMG.

A GROUP of young professionals are launching a charity dinner in Leeds to support and raise funds for The Prince’s Trust.

The group, aged between 24 and 28 and from accountancy firm Ernst & Young, are applying their talents to generate £10,000 for the charity as part of the Million Makers challenge, a national competition which aims to develop the skills of young people, whilst raising money for the Trust.
 
The Black & Pink Ball will take place at The Queens Hotel on February 28.

The evening will be hosted by BBC comedy writer, Barry Roberts, writer of the Two Ronnies, with guest speaker David Parkin, founder and director of TheBusinessDesk.com.

Krista Antoniou, the Ernst & Young Million Makers team leader, said: “The Black & Pink ball is for all members of the business community from corporates, to lawyers, bankers, advisers, and all supporters of the Prince’s Trust from Yorkshire.”

“We hope the event will stand out with the mix of entertainment, speakers and an auction, whilst generating funds for the Trust.

The group have negotiated auction prizes, including a golfing trip of a lifetime, to the US Masters in Augusta 2014.

IT specialist reseller LDD Group has completed a major IT infrastructure upgrade for West Yorkshire Playhouse.
 
The project focused on updating and improving WYP’s legacy systems, the installation of a wireless network and the delivery of a new online booking system.

West Yorkshire Playhouse operates a 24/7 online booking system and has a team of 200 hundred employees requiring internet access.   
 
Ben Tinker, IT Manager at West Yorkshire Playhouse, said: “LDD provided us with a fantastic service and have helped the WYP to invest in and deliver reliable enterprise class IT services on a very limited budget.”
