Global growth for surface specialist

A YORKSHIRE company that manufactures synthetic surfaces for the sports and leisure industry is turning business into an international playground.
Liversedge-based Playrite is making inroads across Europe, North America and Australasia after using a major trade fair in Germany to realise its global potential.
Contracts are now filtering through to provide all weather and safe play surfaces for football pitches, tennis courts and playgrounds.
Sales director Chris Pickles said: “There are some huge markets out there and we’re determined to maximise our potential by doing all we can to discover them, however far flung they may be.
“We’re equally committed to UK growth, but as the market here slows because of economic constraints and uncertainty over building programmes in general, now is the perfect time for us to broaden our horizons and establish ourselves as a true global operator.”
Playrite attended the specialist FSB exhibition in Cologne, using funding from UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) to showcase its products.
International trade advisor Heather Guille, of UKTI, is working with Playrite to help the company continue its overseas growth.
She said: “The future looks very promising for Playrite. The trade fair in Cologne has triggered a whole series of business ventures and it clearly shows that getting high visibility for yourself and your products is a key to success.”
