Window manufacturer smashes growth targets

WINDOW manufacturer Sash UK is celebrating its 50th birthday after adding to its workforce and boosting its turnover.
Turnover increased from £15.m to £18m for the last year, and is expected to hit £21m this year.
Supported by Enterprising Barnsley, over the last 18 months Sash has also increased its workforce from 145 to 180.
The firm was set up by in 1965 in a garage by Ron Bean and Terry Morrell, and Mr Morrell’s son Stephen now holds the reins as managing director.
Sash UK manufactures windows, doors and conservatories and is one of the biggest suppliers in the country. With a 112,000 sq ft factory, the firm is able to produce 2,500 windows and 250 doors a week.
Rudy Micallef, the operations director, said: “We are very much part of the local community and the history of the Barnsley area.
“We have several people here who are third generation, grandparents, parents and children, and we have some who have been here 20, 30 or more years. We make sure we look after our staff and we invest in training people.”
