Cheers all round as beer brewed to celebrate trade mark resolution

PARTNERS in Irwin Mitchell’s Leeds office have proven that they can organise the proverbial in a brewery by working with a micro-brewery to create its own real ale.
32 casks – more than 2,300 pints – of Trade Mark IPA will be brewed by Intrepid Brewing Company to celebrate the successful resolution of a trade mark dispute between Intrepid and a large national brewer.
The beer will be available at pubs supplied by Intrepid, as well as at a series of events in the coming months.
Intrepid’s part-owner and head brewer Ben McIntyre and Irwin Mitchell partner Alex Newman, who worked with Ben on the trade mark issue, concocted the idea, while colleagues Andrew Walker, Stephen Murphy and Rob Cowling joined them for a day at the Hope Valley-based micro-brewery to help brew the beer.
Mr Newman said: “Since deciding on the ingredients and type of beer that we are making, we have been busy working on the branding which launches this week. Starting production of the beer is a major and exciting milestone and we can’t wait to taste it and share it with our clients and contacts next month.”
