Hotel landlord secures funding for Yorkshire Dales village development

DEVELOPERS Hornblower Developments have secured £700,000 funding from The Royal Bank of Scotland to develop a village residential site in Bainbridge.
Hornblower was recently launched by David Collinson, a landlord of the Rose and Crown Hotel in Bainbridge, and Graeme Newton, the managing director of Randall Orchard Construction company, based in Richmond, North Yorkshire.
The pair are set to develop eight houses in the village, which have been in planning for four years. The newly-launched firm has pre-sold five of the houses.
David Collinson, co-director of Hornblower Developments Limited said: “By developing some of the land at the hotel it is giving local people the chance to buy affordable housing and is one of the very few schemes approved for development within the National Park.
“We are delighted at how we have blended the new development with the old and traditional look of the village, and we hope that this will have given the authorities confidence thereby encouraging them as a result of this success to give the go-ahead for similar such projects to be built in the immediate future.”
Chris Johnson, senior relationship manager at RBS added: “David is a well-known individual to the bank having walked into our Union Street branch in Aberdeen in 1974 to conduct business. Combined with Graeme’s experience in property development we were in no doubt they would form a professional working partnership and provide a high standard of housing in the area.
“We wish them both well as they continue to market the remaining three houses priced from £155,000 and bring this project to a very successful completion.”
