Partner at 200 year-old law firm suspended following fraud allegations

A PARTNER at law firm Dixon Coles & Gill, a 200 year-old Wakefield law firm that shut down in January, has been suspended from practicing law.
The Solicitors Regulation Authority said they had reason to suspect dishonesty in partner Linda Box’s dealings with the firm.
Dixon Coles & Gill, which was based at Bank House in Wakefield, shut down on 29 January and an investigation into fraud was launched by the West Yorkshire Police.
Now the SRA has also prevented the firm from operating, and taking over client accounts.
It was reported in February that a 66 year-old woman had been arrested in connection with the case.
The other partners in the firm, Julia Wilding and Julian Sanderson, were not suspended by the SRA.
John Owen of Gordons has been appointed as the intervening agent in the case.
