Business park kept in the family through acquisition

A 26,840 sq ft business park in North Yorkshire has been bought by the family that was involved in building the scheme.  

The Hunt family, which owns a number of construction and development related businesses in the north has acquired Abbey Court at Selby Business Park after it was put on the market following the closure of developer Priority Sites.

Abbey Court is a multi-let office park comprising 15 separate buildings. Located on the A63 Selby bypass, the scheme is now 70% let with occupiers including Doosan Babcock, Morgan Lambert and The Skills Network.  

The family’s construction business Britcon was the main building contractor for Abbey Court in 2010.

Shaun Hunt, chief executive of Hunt Group, said: “We are delighted to acquire Abbey Court.  Having built it ourselves we are well aware of the build credentials that have earned the site a BREEAM Excellent award and its futureproof attributes for efficiency that make it a strong long-term investment opportunity.

“We have already introduced our in-house service management team, H.G. Property Management, to provide tenants with best value coupled with very high standards of service through our regular site maintenance programme and open door policy.”

Two former development managers of Priority Sites are also appointed to manage the asset for Hunt family.   

Director Adam Richardson said: “Having had historic involvement with the site we are delighted to re-engage the process with Hunt family and progress the lettings efforts.  Since the Hunt family acquisition we have already agreed deals to let 1,688 sq ft to Backoffice Nationwide and 1,414 sq ft to Drenched.”
 
Four and a half buildings remain to let at Abbey Court with suites ranging from 703 sq ft to 6568 sq ft plus parking.

PPH Commercial is appointed to market the scheme.
