Facilities management firm dishes up gourmet waste deal

WASTE management specialists at Orchard Facilities Management have rolled out a food collection and compliance service for a Yorkshire food manufacturer that supplies Michelin star chefs, luxury cruise liners and global airlines.

TRUEfoods in Ripon uses traditional slow cooking and roasting methods to produce stocks and sauces for leading restaurants and Waitrose’s HESTON range. It has also supplied high profile cookery shows including Saturday Kitchen and the Great British Menu.

Founded by Mitch Mitchell almost ten years ago, the family food business has expanded its product range to include chef prepared pates, terrines and, more recently, savoury pies and tarts. The company even has its own on site herb garden providing fresh ingredients to use in its recipes.

Mitch said effective waste management had become more important than ever following recent growth.

“We started out as a small family business on this site and now, ten years on, we have a turnover of £10m and operate from six units,” said Mr Mitchell.

“We have been blessed with a great team of people who have helped us innovate and grow and it has always been extremely important to us that we implement best practice in every area of our organisation.

“There have been tough times over the years and even though we have grown to become a successful company, trading globally, we will never lose sight of the fact that we have got where we are today by keeping costs under control whilst delivering the best possible quality products. That’s why we simply won’t compromise when it comes to operational efficiency and high standards on site.”
