Selby-based GBUK Ltd is one of the first healthcare companies in the United Kingdom to receive a Level 2 accreditation by the NHS Supply Chain Labour Standards Assurance System (LSAS).

Developed by NHS Supply Chain, in conjunction with the Department of Health and industry bodies, LSAS provides an extra level of corporate, social and ethical governance with regards labour standards, marking a major but progressive change in its procurement methodology.

Suppliers must be audited to Level 1 as a minimum before NHS Trusts can purchase supplies through NHS Supply Chain.

By achieving LSAS Level 2, GBUK Ltd has demonstrated that processes and procedures to manage labour standards have been implemented in addition to identifying risk in the supply chain.

David Pickles, operations manager at GBUK Ltd said: “We are proud to be accredited with a LSAS Level 2. It acknowledges that we are committed to ensuring our employees are treated with dignity and respect, in safe conditions and earn fair rates of pay.

“We will be working towards LSAS Level 3 in the forthcoming year.”
