McIntosh appointed to chair Hull Forward

HULL Forward, the city’s economic development agency, has appointed a senior local businessman as its new chairman.

Ian McIntosh, president of the west division of AarhusKarlshamn Group, the oil,fat and food supplier, takes over from Carl Minns of Hull City Council, who has been Hull Forward’s interim chairman since the launch in April 2008.

Originally from the city, Mr McIntosh has held a number of senior positions in the food industry before returning to Hull to head Aarhus United in 1998.

He became president of the company in 2006 following its merger with Swedish company, Karlshamn, and leads five operating companies in the UK, USA and Latin America.

He is also a former chairman of the CBI for Yorkshire and the Humber and the Hull Food Alliance.

Ian McIntosh said: “I am delighted to take this position as I’m passionate about the city and its continued success.

“Given Hull Forward’s role in driving the city’s economic development, I feel that I can offer my skills and experience in developing the food sector – which remains a priority for the city – but also in harnessing the opportunities presented by international markets, in which I’ve been working for many years.”

John Holmes, Chief Executive of Hull Forward, said; “We are thrilled to announce Ian’s appointment. Our aspiration is for Hull to become a global economic player and with Ian’s input, I’m sure this will increasingly become a reality.”
