Data protection gives peace of mind

A HARROGATE company has devised a simple security system that can safeguard the work of every business in the region.
Bosses can now sleep soundly at night knowing the vital data that provides the lifeblood to their enterprises is safely under electronic lock and key.
The failsafe idea is the brainchild of Data-Assurance Services, run by business partners Sean and Sarah Sanpher.
Its remote backup system throws an invisible security net over every email, invoice or document – whether produced by a one-man business or a company with a multi-million pound turnover.
Once a broadband link is in place the backup system clicks into life as required – whether it’s once each evening or every five minutes.
Encrypted information from clients’ networks is delivered electronically to DAS’s secure servers, where it is stored and kept ready for download should disaster strike – as happened to one of the company’s clients in Leeds.
Vandals broke into the North East Religious Learning Resources Centre and systematically destroyed the computers there.
Luckily, all the company’s data had been regularly backed up and collated via the remote link, and the owners were back in business later the same day.
Director Karenza Passmore said: “The wonder of the remote back-up system offered by Data-Assurance is that it’s an effortless process. You never see it happening and you don’t have to do anything, yet you know all your data is completely safe.
“Data-Assurance take care of everything and it means that no matter what your information is untouchable. It’s a system that really does give us complete peace of mind.”
Mrs Sanpher said it had been her ambition to provide low-cost peace of mind for companies for some time.
“Being in business is hard enough without having the headache of losing all your data,” she said.
Data-Assurance Services was formed in 2005 to provide IT support to both the public and private sectors.
It has grown rapidly since that time and now employs 15 people, offering on-site support to clients including a UK-based multi-national and a north-eastern NHS department.
