Contract could see new jobs at Airco

HULL-based Airco Group has landed a £500,000 contract to service and maintain air conditioning units in 153 schools, libraries and offices across East Yorkshire.
The five year contract, awarded by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, is worth around £100,000 per annum to Airco, which is one of the UK’s leading air conditioning and refrigeration firms, and could lead to extra jobs.
Paul Lough, operations director for Airco, said: “This is definitely one of the biggest contracts available to any air conditioning company within its local area. It is a fantastic boost for Airco and will enable us to set out our stall for at least the next five years.”
Airco currently employs 45 staff at its head office in Hull but expects there may well be a need for more engineers in the future on the back of this latest contract.
Building on its success as small local company, it has become one of the market leaders in professional engineering with a network of engineers throughout the UK that service, maintain and install the full spectrum of refrigeration, air conditioning, heating and electrical systems.
Airco’s other clients include Kingston Communications, Smith & Nephew, Seven Seas, Boots and Comet. The company has also achieved the globally-recognised ISO 9001:2000 quality standard.
Mr Lough continued: “This was a complex tendering process and we could not be happier to win it.
“We believe that five companies were invited to tender for the contract and we demonstrated that we are the best-placed company to take on the work. There may also be spin off projects on the back of this which will boost the value of the contract further.”
