Olympic win for Deloitte

DELOITTE has been appointed the professional services supporter for the 2012 Olympics with Leeds-based consulting partner Heather Hancock heading the firm's winning team.
It was Mrs Hancock who led Deloitte's bid to become the exclusive provider of professional advisory services to the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG).
The deal is the first 'two tier' sponsorship to be signed and means that Deloitte can begin activating its relationship from January 2009. It will give the business advisory firm the designation of official professional services supporter of London 2012, with rights to use the London 2012 marks and to Team GB and Paralympics GB.
Deloitte's advisory services to the LOCOG will include tax, human capital, management consulting and financial support through secondments and advisory work.
“We are delighted to become official supporters of the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympics Games,” said Mrs Hancock. “Deloitte's selection by the LOCOG to be its exclusive provider of professional services reflects the exceptional breadth and scale of our services, the quality of our people and our enthusiastic support for the London 2012 Games.”
She added: “This is a fabulous opportunity for everyone in our firm and a great platform for the Deloitte brand. It reflects our longstanding commitment to leadership in the market and in the community, building on our support for grassroots sport and our exceptional track record in voluntary and community support. Over the course of the next five years many of our people will have a once in a lifetime opportunity to transform London and the UK and we are proud to be playing our part.”
LOCOG's chief executive Paul Deighton said: “This is an exciting and innovative deal, with Deloitte supporting us not only with cash, which is essential as we raise the £2bn of private finance we need to host and stage the Games in 2012, but will also provide us with expert people. We will grow very quickly, to an organisation of 2,500 people at Games time.
“Having high-calibre secondees from Deloitte with a flexible range of skills across a number of different operational areas will help us in our goal of building a world class organisation to stage a truly memorable Games and leave a lasting economic, sporting, social and environmental legacy long after the summer of 2012.”
