Music shop hits the right note

A LEEDS music business that had been forced to close its doors has re-opened.

Business owners Paul Germain and Alison Lynch had always wanted to run their own firm and after securing finance from Barclays Commercial Bank in Leeds re-launched the Production Room.

“It’s taken quite a while for us to finally open the doors but I’ve been delighted with the custom we’ve received so far,” said Mr Germain.

“We’ve also had a good reception to the website and websales have far outperformed our forecasts, which has been fantastic considering the current climate.”

The shop sells DJ gear, computer music, keyboards, digital pianos and synths, percussion and recording equipment and has also just launched a new collection of electric pianos.

Both directors previously worked for Sound Control and more recently Reverb Retail so bring plenty of experience to the mixing desk.

Ms Lynch said keeping the shop in the same premises was a “wise move” as many old customers had returned.

“Because Paul and I had previously been in the music business and had strong relationships with our suppliers it’s been an enormous help setting up and we’re really grateful to everyone that’s helped to make it happen,” she added.

Mark Byram, relationship director with Barclays Commercial in Leeds, said: “We are delighted that we have been able to support the Production Room with this transaction which demonstrates Barclays is open for business and committed to the Leeds market.”
