Principal Teachers on expansion roll

ONE of the North’s leading supply teaching agencies Principal Teachers has taken another major step forward in its expansion with the opening of a new office in York.

The latest move follows the opening of a Leeds office in February.

The business, founded in 2001 by former teacher Becca Morgan, was set up following the granting of a loan from the Princes Trust.

Since then the Catterick-based business, which employs three specialist consultants, has been supplying primary and secondary schools across the region with teaching staff on long and short term supply contracts.

Commenting on the opening of the new office in York, Ms Morgan said: “Our research has shown that there’s been a gap in the market for an independent supply teaching agency based in the city.

“As local, on the ground knowledge is paramount in ensuring that clients and teachers get the very best service, it made absolute sense to open an office here.”

She added: “Our new Leeds office has got off to a flying start and we know that we can replicate its success here.”

In 2006, Principal Teachers was the first agency in North Yorkshire to be awarded the DCSF Quality Mark, which sets minimum standards of operation for agencies and local education authorities recruiting supply teachers.
