Property community prepares for MIPIM

A DELEGATION of Yorkshire business leaders is gearing up for this week’s major property and development convention MIPIM – and TheBusinessDesk.com will be there to report on all the key announcements.
The key role that the Leeds LEP will have to play in creating a better environment for business and investment will be outlined at the event in Cannes, France, by the delegation.
Leeds LEP chairman Neil McLean will be joined by senior decision makers from the public and private sectors in Leeds, Bradford and Wakefield.
Collaborating for the second time under the banner of ‘Leeds City Region – growing together’, they will promote flagship projects and investment opportunities across the city region.
A top official from Barcelona is also supporting the Leeds City Region at MIPIM.
Mario Rubert, managing director of international economic relations for Barcelona City Council, will speak at a Leeds City Region event discussing the importance of culture to economic life in cities.
David Parkin, editor of TheBusinessDesk.com, will chair a breakfast briefing entitled ‘Leeds City Region: developing a culture of growth’ on Wednesday, and also a round table discussion about how the Leeds LEP can create a better environment for business on Thursday.
TheBusinessDesk.com will report on both these events as well as bringing readers a regular blog about what is happening at the conference and will also cover all the other major announcements during the week.
Deputy Editor Ian Briggs and business development manager Aimee Willow are joining David to form TheBusinessDesk.com team in France.
Meanwhile, representatives from Sheffield City Council, the city’s Local Enterprise Partnership, building contractors, the banking industry and commercial estate agents are behind an event to discuss the issues and priorities affecting the local property sector.
Up to 130 invited guests from the property and professional communities will gather for a one-day ‘alternative MIPIM’ event, which will coincide with the international real estate event.
Knight Frank partner Tim Bottrill, associate director at Turner and Townsend, Lee Barron, and partner at Hill Dickinson Alastair Reid, have organised the city event which will incorporate a panel discussion featuring some of the city’s well-known property industry names.
The Sheffield event, at the Crystal Bar in Carver Street on Thursday at 2.30pm, will be sponsored by St Paul’s Developments, JF Finnegans and Handelsbanken.
