IT guides to benefit Yorkshire SMEs

A SERIES of six, jargon-free guides on how to introduce and manage technology is now available free of charge to small businesses in Yorkshire.

The guides, which a specially written to address the needs of companies new to IT, explain what technology is available, what it could do for the business and how to get started.

Titles include Getting Started, Making Information Secure, Getting Online, Using Online Resources, and Marketing and Selling Online.

Martin Harvey from e-skills UK, the Sector Skills Council which created the guides together with small business employers, said: “Technology has the power to transform a small business. It can save time and money, boost productivity and open up new markets and opportunities.

“But companies can find it difficult to know where to start. They worry about making the wrong choices, about the cost and skills implications, and about how to plan for future growth.”

Mr Harvey said the guides, which complement e-skills UK’s online business IT guide – would help small firms get to grips with the key issues in just a few minutes.

Small firms can obtain the free guides and be registered on the Business IT Guide by calling 0800 111 4413 or emailing businessitguide@e-skills.com
