Yorkshire creative agency director takes role with Habitat

HOMEWARES giant Habitat has appointed Mike Phillipson, a director of Yorkshire-based strategic and creative agency Propaganda as its interim marketing director.

Mr Phillipson will work for five days a month at the London head office of Habitat, which has 71 stores across Europe.

His role is likely to last until early next year and follows an intensive review of the business by new Habitat chief executive Mark Saunders who joined from Levi Strauss Europe in March.

Propaganda has been working with Habitat since March to develop a new Propstrategic marketing plan and Mr Phillipson’s appointment continues the trend of Propaganda directors taking senior roles on their client’s boards.

As part of his new role he will direct the launch of Habitat’s new marketing strategy and Propaganda will continue to be the lead brand and creative agency.

Habitat chief executive Mark Saunders said: “Mike brings with him a huge amount of strategic and marketing experience which will help us across Europe over the coming months he will be an invaluable asset to everyone here at Habitat.”

Mr Phillipson said: “I will continue to balance the work I am doing with my other clients at Propaganda with the new role at Habitat. Clients like Habitat are looking for more flexible solutions to senior appointments like this and agencies like Propaganda, with their senior resource, are well placed to help them.

Habitat has 37 stores in the UK, 24 in France, five in Spain and five in Germany and distributes through independent partners in Belgium, Greece, Iceland, Indonesia, Isle of Man, Luxembourg, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Sweden and Thailand.
