Restaurateur tackles peak challenge

A WELL known Yorkshire restaurateur is scaling Africa’s Mount Kilamanjaro to raise funds for charity.

Martin Pickles of The Flying Pizza in Leeds is tackling the challenge next month with a team of 11 friends including John Grantham, the chief executive of Yorkshire property company Oakgate Group.

Mr Pickles is aiming to raise £12,000 for two charities – ‘Think Pink’ Breast Cancer Research and Yorkshire Air Ambulance – from The Kilimanjaro Challenge 2009

Sponsorship can be given online at: www.theflyingpizza.co.uk, or: www.justgiving.com/martinpickles

Mr Pickles said: “My niece Georgina was thrown from her horse last March and fell into a coma for almost two weeks. She was flown to Leeds General Infirmary by Air Ambulance and remained there for several weeks. Thank God, she made a full recovery. The ‘golden time’ the helicopter provided must have made a huge difference.”
