Latest appointments: Haigh on board at magnet company, Senior appointment at Garness Jones and more

SHEFFIELD-based magnet manufacturer, Anchor Magnets, has welcomed experienced dealmaker, Jo Haigh, to its board as non-executive director.

Ms Haigh, who was recently honoured as Business Advisor of the Year at the regional IoD Director of the Year awards, heads the corporate finance division of financial management company ,MGR, in Sheffield.

Also a partner at training and consultancy firm, fds, Ms Haigh, specialises in owner-managed businesses and has bought and sold more than 300 companies.

Peter Holmes, managing director at Anchor Magnets, said; “Jo’s depth and breadth of experience and skills will add much to the board as a non-executive director.

“I am confident she will challenge us and offer guidance to help us grow at an even faster pace. Her particular expertise in acquisitions will be extremely useful, as we look to bring on board complementary organisations to accelerate our progression.”

Anchor Magnets employs over 40 staff at its Sheffield base and provides bespoke magnetic products to wide-ranging industries throughout Europe.

PROPERTY agent and chartered surveyors, Garness Jones, has strengthened its Hull-based team with the appointment of a new director.

Colin Garvin joined the company in 2005 and is responsible for residential and commercial property surveys and valuations, schedules of conditions, dilapidation and energy performance certificates.

In his new role, Mr Garvin will work more closely with the company’s equity directors, Dave Garness and Hans van Nieuwkerk and contribute to management discussions.

“Not only is he central to our survey and valuation work, but his varied background continues to add strength and variety to our strategy as we take the business forward.”

PROPERTY consultancy, Carter Jonas, has strengthened its energy team with a double appointment.

Clive Fagg and Victoria Maynard join the Harrogate team as environmental planning specialists.

They will work on a wide range of planning matters including on-site energy generation and commercial scale renewable energy developments.

Andrew Watkin, partner and head of the energy team, said; “I am delighted that Clive and Victoria will be joining our dedicated Energy Team.

“Their specialist planning knowledge and experience in the sector will be an invaluable asset to our clients.”

DIGITAL marketing agency, Epiphany Solutions, has two new additions to its Leeds team.

Richard Terry joins the company as a senior account manager from Bradford & Bingley where he was emarketing campaign manager.

Nicola Good joins from Royal Bank of Scotland where she was a project manager and will take up a similar role at Epiphany with a focus on web-development projects.
