Latest appointments: Double appointment at Schofield Sweeney, New MD at Airport Partners and more

YORKSHIRE law firm, Schofield Sweeney , has boosted its corporate and litigation departments with the appointment of two new lawyers.

Adrian Ballam joins the firm’s corporate team from Eversheds and Richard Jobes joins the litigation department after completing his training with the firm.

Mr Ballam qualified in 2005 and has been involved in a number of high-profile corporate acquisitions and disposals for clients based in the UK and overseas.

Mr Jobes, a former music journalist, has recently qualified with the firm.

AIRPORT advertising specialists, Airport Partners, has appointed a new managing director.

Paula Oliver was previously operations and development director at JCDecaux Airport and has worked in the industry for 17 years.

Ms Oliver will be heading Airport Partners’ bid for the current media tender issued by BAA for contracts at its seven UK airports.

Based in Harrogate, the company specialises in providing a tailor-made service to regional airports and advertising clients and is part of outdoor advertising company, Adgroup.

Andrew Walker, AdGroup’s chairman, said: “We are delighted with this game changing appointment and are looking forward to Paula’s significant breadth and depth of experience helping Airport Partners significantly expand our airport business.”

ALDWARK Manor Golf and Spa Hotel, part of the QHotels group, has appointed a new general manager.

Steven Whittaker joins the York-based hotel after two years as resident manager at the Nottingham Belfry hotel, and brings with him more than 12 years in the hotel industry.

Mr Whittaker will pay attention to promoting exclusive use of the hotels 55 bedrooms, meeting and conference rooms to the business and leisure market.

Vivien Sirotkin, director of operations at QHotels, said; “With an extensive career in the hospitality industry and with specific experience in food and beverage service, Steven will be an excellent addition to Aldwark Manor Golf & Spa Hotel.

“We are confident that Steven will build on the success of this great resort property with such a strong team behind him.”

PROPERTY services firm, Dacres Commercial, has appointed two senior planning consultants.

Jane Dickman joins from Savills and Mike Bottomley joins from Turley Associates, and together bring more than 40 years experience to the planning department.

Ms Dickman is a chartered town planner and surveyor and Mr Bottomley is a chartered town planner and a qualified built heritage and conservation consultant.

Head of planning, Mark Johnson, said: “These two new senior appointments strengthen our already skilful team of planners and will enable us to continue our expansion into North and East Yorkshire whilst establishing a presence in the North West.

“Both Jane and Mike bring different skill sets and experience to our department and will enable us to offer an ever wider range of services to our expanding client base.”
