Sheffield’s digital media sector to take centre stage

SHEFFIELD’S digital media sector is set to a massive boost with the launch of the city’s Doc/Fest.
More than 1,500 delegates from across the world will visit Sheffield this week from today until November 8 including leading documentary and factual film producers, directors, buyers, commissioners and distributors.
It heralds the beginning of fortnight-long focus on the sector with Yorkshire Digital Week being held next week.
Delegates as Doc/Fest will attend the festival’s first Crossover Summit, which will address how new media and production companies can respond to the creative and commercial challenges of developing digital content and services.
It is hoped that the summit will become a leading European event for crossplatform and digital content.
Brendan Moffett, strategic marketing director at CreativeSheffield, which helped to organise the event, said: “November is a fantastic opportunity to put Sheffield on the map for creative and digital talent.
“Sheffield has an excellent reputation for having a wealth of companies working within the digital, games and interactive sectors and Doc/Fest will really show what the city is capable of.”
This year Doc/Fest presents films produced in 21 countries, with 19 World premieres, two international premieres, eight EU premieres and 45 UK premieres.
All film tickets and some industry sessions are available to the public. For more details visit www.sheffdocfest.com.
