Top composer chooses Yorkshire to launch music business

A WORLD renowned international composer and conductor has launched a new company in Yorkshire.
Producer Tolga Kashif has opened Lightsong Music at Nostell Priory in Wakefield, which will focus on creating independent musical productions, providing fair deals for artists and developing raw talent.
Mr Kashif said that he was inspired to launch the business in Yorkshire rather than in the South East following “overwhelming” support and encouragement from local firms.
“As well as being involved in national projects we intend to work with the community to raise the profile of the area and champion initiatives that artists and audiences alike will want to be a part of,” he added.
“Launching Lightsong Media Group in Yorkshire was also a strategic decision. Due to the evolution of digital technologies, geographical limitations are no longer a factor when starting a business.”
Mr Kashif said he was now looking to develop partnerships with businesses in the region and to host events to raise the cultural profile of the region and offer music lovers access to locally-based performances.
The composer is most famous for his work with the award winning classical album The Queen Symphony and number one platinum single Perfect Day, which raised more than £2m for Children in Need.
He has also worked with some of the world’s leading performers including The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Opera North and artists such as Vanessa Mae and Lesley Garrett.
