DIGITAL hubs across the region will be showcasing their creative talents as they prepare for Digital Week 2009.

Industry professionals will take part in a series of seminars and networking events in Leeds, Bradford, Huddersfield, Scarborough and Sheffield starting today to examine new technologies in the digital and creative sectors.

Leeds will host events on sound and music to celebrate the city’s music scene with specialists discussing how music can survive the digital boom and stand up to giants such as iTunes and pirate traders.

Huddersfield will head up the social media focus with an event at the Media Centre revealing how new media clients can best use online networks such as Twitter, Facebook, Whippet on the Wire and Flickr.

Digital advancements will be the focus for Scarborough events.

Meanwhile, more than 130 people across the region will take part in a live link to the US, Canada and India to look at new developments in film, animation and digital media.

Sheffield will focus on 3D technology’s role in design and architecture by organising a workshop that will looking at new 3D technologies in the gaming world.

The week will culminate back in Leeds with the DADI awards on November 13, which recognises the work of the UK’s most creative digital media.

Leanne Buchan of Holbeck Urban Village said: “It is great to see so many areas running events even though we are only in our second year.

“Although it’s been a tough few months for many industries operating in a difficult financial climate, it is the creative and new media sector that has continued to grow and Yorkshire is still at the forefront of this with more than 13,000 creative/digital industry businesses in the region.”
