BETHAN Lewis, a second year student studying a BSc building surveying degree at Sheffield Hallam University, has been awarded the Women in Property National Student Award 2011 for Yorkshire & North East region.

Bethan was presented with her prize, a cheque for £300 from Jeff Pearey, head of Jones Lang Lasalle’s Leeds office, at the finalists’ awards ceremony.

As well as undertaking a week’s work experience placement at Jones Lang LaSalle’s Leeds office, she will also go on to compete at the Women in Property National Awards being held at Claridge’s Hotel in London.

All entrants for this year’s regional awards were nominated by their universities as being outstanding students in their year, after which they were invited to present one piece of their coursework to a regional judging panel.

Shepherd Construction wins £17m design and build contract at University of Warwick YORKSHIRE contractor Shepherd Construction has secured a £17m design and build contract with the University of Warwick.

The contract will see Shepherd Construction deliver a new hall of residence and ancillary facilities for staff and associated service areas within a 61-week build programme.

Work is due to start on-site early next month.

The new accommodation will provide around 500 additional student bedrooms to the 5,778 rooms already on campus, and a resident warden’s house, one deputy warden flat and 11 residential tutors’ flats, together with associated service and amenity areas.

 The scheme was designed by Warwick-based architect Robothams.

Shepherd Construction is also currently on site building student accommodation at Arch Bar and Marlborough Street in Manchester, a new research facility on behalf of the University of Liverpool, and a library refurbishment for the University of York.

THE eight floor of G Mill at Dean Clough in Halifax has been let to NorthgateArinso UK.

The HR, payroll, pensions and rewards specialist has agreed a new five-year lease on the office space totalling 9,677 sq ft and will pay a headline rent of £16.25 per sq ft.

Dean Clough was represented jointly by international real estate advisor Savills and Walker Singleton.

The sales team at Clean Energy (Yorkshire)CLEAN Energy (Yorkshire) is increasing its workforce and has moved to a new, bigger head office.

The company, started by husband and wife team Spencer and Tamsin Cassidy, has moved from the edge of Harrogate to a 2,500 sq ft unit at Pannal Business Park.

The new head office will combine offices, warehousing and a training facility.
 
With more than 20 staff, the business specialises in supplying and installing solar panels, ground source heat pumps, turbines and solar hot water systems.

Clients include local authorities, home owners, farmers, land owners, property developers and housing associations.

A GUEST house in North Yorkshire has been sold through the Leeds office of Colliers International.

The asking price for Bridgefoot Guest House at Thornton le Dale in Pickering was £495,00 freehold.

Bridgefoot includes eight en-suite letting bedrooms, private parking and a walled garden.
