Media Buzz: Brazilian footballer celebrates with Motus TV; Ireland in as Propaganda’s head of digital; and more

BRAZILIAN football legend Carlos Alberto brought a touch of South American sparkle to a Leeds TV production company’s fifth birthday celebrations.
Alberto, who captained Brazil’s 1970 World Cup winning side, joined forces with the Oulton-based Motus TV team for his starring role in Leeds entrepreneur Simon Clifford’s new Brazilian Soccer School film.
Jonny Clarke, founding partner of Motus TV said: “Working with Carlos Alberto was the perfect birthday present for us. He is a World Cup winner and a legend of the game and just goes to show how far we have come in five years.
“We have had a fantastic five years and plan to grow the business further and really cement our position as one of the north of England’s leading production companies.”

KIRSTAL Ireland is the new head of digital at brand and communications consultancy Propaganda.
This new role has been created to drive the Leeds-based agency’s recently launched digital proposition Digital Intelligence, a programme of strategic consultancy for businesses new to digital or those that are looking for a fresh approach to the development of their digital proposition.
Ms Ireland joins from Welcome to Yorkshire, where she was head of digital.
During this time, she developed an extensive social media and digital marketing strategy which saw the Yorkshire.com website pick up the Travemole Award for Best Travel Website in 2010.

PUBLIC relations and marketing firm the Smart Agency has been appointed by glazing installation and maintenance specialists Solaglas to raise awareness of its installation division after a major restructure of the company.
The Leeds and Harrogate-based agency will handle a media relations and marketing campaign to help position the division with its key customers including the insurance, retail and construction sectors.
Smart also recently worked on the launch of Solaglas Installations’ new headquarters in Manvers, Rotherham.

PROFESSOR Anne Gregory, director of the centre for public relations studies at Leeds Metropolitan University, has been appointed chair-elect of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management.
The Global Alliance is the umbrella organisation which links PR and communications professionals around the world through their professional institutions.
Members include institutes and organisations from every continent including the UK’s Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), of which Professor Gregory was president in 2004.
