Breaking News: Dickinson Dees to move to Leeds

LAW firm Dickinson Dees is to relocate its York office to Leeds, it announced today.

The firm, headquartered in Newcastle, described the move as “a major expansion” and said it would help it to take advantage of its “rapid growth” in the Yorkshire market.

Dickinson Dees also said the move would enable it to “better serve” its client base and that its partners believe a presence in Leeds, described by the firm as “the region’s commercial and financial capital”, was essential to meet the needs of existing and new clients.

The firm has six partners and 52 staff in York. All staff have been offered the opportunity to work at the firm in Leeds.

Managing partner Jonathan Blair said: “Our business in Yorkshire has quadrupled in size to a turnover of £4.5m last year from when we  first opened in 2007.

“Our move into Leeds will enable us to build further on this significant platform and help us to deliver the strategy we rolled out earlier this year.

“That strategy will see us expanding our market share and our geographical presence. In Yorkshire we believe we can best achieve this by being based out of Leeds.”

Mr Blair said the firm would be re-locating its entire operation from its base at the former Terry’s chocolate factory in York to a site, which has yet to be confirmed, in Leeds, with the move expected to be completed by the start of 2012.

Dickinson Dees entered Yorkshire when it acquired specialist corporate practice Philip Ashworth & Co, in 2007.

The firm employs a total of 650 staff.
