Jet2 owner expects profits to outstrip expectations

Leeds-based Dart Group, owners of the Jet2 brand, is expecting results to be well ahead of market expectations following a year of growth.

The company, which announced the creation of hundreds of jobs across UK airports last year, said it expected pre-tax profits for the year to March 2017 to be ahead of current expectations, as a result of “lower than anticipated” winter losses.

It said that forward bookings in the leisure travel business Jet2Holidays for summer 2017 were “satisfactory”.

Dart has launched operating bases at London Stansted and Birmingham airports, leading the board to predict that it will meet targets before the year end.

Trading at Fowler Welch, its logistics business was described as “promising”, as it continues to focus on growing and developing existing and new business opportunities.
