Retail and leisure development completed at Leeds gateway

A retail and leisure development in north Leeds area Mabgate has been completed.

Mabgate Junction, located at a gateway into Leeds close to the new £165m Hammerson development, is a mix of large retail and leisure operators on a former Reg Vardy Renault car dealership.

It includes a 16,500 sq ft Aldi store, an 18,500 sq ft Pure Gym facility and a further 7,500 sq ft for Poundworld.

The 2.5 acre site on Regent Street is being developed and designed by The Harris Partnership and the Gregory Property Group.

Operator handover to fit out commenced in January with retailers scheduled to open from June 2017 bringing a number of jobs to the community.

‘We are delighted to see this valuable extension to Leeds city centre retail and leisure offer finally reach completion after a number of years in planning and development ,” said Harris Partnership Group Director Nick Charlesworth. “ This scheme effectively connects Regent Street to one of the most vibrant city centres in the UK and that represents an important investment for the local community and the city as a whole.”
