Charity snaps up Leeds office building

The Leeds Society for Deaf and Blind People has bought the former Leeds Diocesan office building in Leeds.

The charity, which responds to the needs and aspirations of deaf, hard of hearing, blind and partially sighted people throughout the city, will be using the property for social activities and the development of its services.

The 4,600 sq ft building, on St Mary’s Street close to the bus station and the new Victoria Gate shopping destination, was sold by Leeds based property consultancy Sanderson Weatherall, acting on behalf of the Diocese of Leeds.

Martin Dodgson, president of the Society for Deaf and Blind People, said: “Our new premises, so close to the city centre yet set within extensive lawns and with easy access for both pedestrians and car users, provides a perfect setting and location for our future.”

Tom Goode, office agent at Sanderson Weatherall, added: “We are delighted to have sold this property to the Leeds Society for Deaf and Blind People. The Diocese of Leeds is a long standing client of ours and we are pleased to have assisted them on another disposal.”
