People: Equity partner promotions at EY; Former JLL COO joins Eddisons; and more

EY’s Catherine Reid and Mark Irving have both been internally promoted to the role of partner in Yorkshire.
Reid is a partner in the audit practice and Irving is responsible for growing Yorkshire’s financial services tax practice.
Across the North, EY has appointed two further partners – Hilary Heap who works across the region’s transactions advisory services team focusing on valuation and business modelling, and Mark Clephan who will continue to lead on mergers and acquisitions.

Other senior promotions for EY Leeds are Fay Parfitt in EY’s tax team and Paul McCann in the people advisory services team, who have both been promoted to executive director.

Mark Stupples
Mark Stupples has joined Leeds-based property consultancy Eddisons as a non-executive director.
Stupples has spent his entire career in property services, since joining JP Sturge, which became King Sturge, as a graduate trainee in 1984. Appointed to its UK management board in 2000, he served as the firm’s UK managing partner from 2008 until 2011, during which time he negotiated the sale of that business to commercial real estate services and investment management business JLL.
Following the acquisition, he was appointed as JLL’s UK chief operating officer, a post he held until he left the firm in December 2016. He completed and integrated a number of UK acquisitions during his time with JLL, including WA Ellis in 2014 and Integral in 2016.

Berwins’ commercial law division has welcomed specialist litigation solicitor Andrew Mawdsley.
With two decades of legal experience, Mawdsley joins Harrogate and Leeds-based Berwins after 14 years with a South Yorkshire practice where, as a partner he was responsible for the development of a highly regarded litigation department with an enviable reputation in the local business community.
“We’re delighted to welcome somebody of Andrew’s calibre and experience to our commercial unit” said firm founder Paul Berwin.
